5 Days in Chiang Mai Solo: The Peaceful, Budget Blogger Itinerary

Before heading to a place, I call it home.`

Temples, Cafes, Food, and Malls Without the Rush — SEA Spice Tour With MK.

After 6 years of chaos, I need peace. Chiang Mai in November will give me exactly that.

Day 1: Old City Reset + Night Bazaar

Vibe: Land softly. No pressure.
Morning: Check-in, then walk the Old City moat. Tha Phae Gate is perfect for your “I made it” first post.
Lunch: Khao Soi Khun Yai ∼60 THB. This is Chiang Mai in a bowl.
Afternoon: Wat Phra Singh + Wat Chedi Luang. Go around 4pm for golden light. Entry 20-50 THB.
Evening: Chiang Mai Night Bazaar + Anusarn Market. Street food ∼100-150 THB. Try sai ua and mango sticky rice.
Mall Stop: Central Chiang Mai Airport Plaza for SIM cards and essentials.
Blog Tip: Film a “first 24 hours” reel. People connect to arrival energy.

Day 2: Doi Suthep + Nimman Cafe Hop

Vibe: Views + aesthetic
Morning: Grab to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep ∼50 THB entry. The view over the city hits different.
Afternoon: Nimmanhaemin. This is where Chiang Mai’s creative crowd lives.
Mall: One Nimman for boutique shops.
Cafes: Graph Cafe, Yellow Lane. Budget 150-250 THB for coffee + cake and 2 hours of laptop time.
Evening: Maya Mall. Food court ∼80-120 THB. Go to the rooftop for sunset.
Blog Tip: “Cafe hopping in Nimman” carousel = saves + shares. Tag every cafe.

Day 3: Nature Day – Pick Your Pace

Vibe: Reset in nature
Option A – Tour: Doi Inthanon National Park day trip ∼1200-1500 THB. Waterfalls, highest point in Thailand, king pagodas.
Option B – Budget: Bhubing Palace + Huay Kaew Waterfall. Grab ∼400 THB round trip. Slower, quieter.
Evening: If it’s Saturday → Wua Lai Walking Street. If not → Chang Phuak Gate street food ∼100 THB.
Blog Tip: Contrast content. City temples vs. mountain mist does so well.

Day 4: Cook + Shop + Walk

Vibe: Hands-on + local
Morning: Half-day Thai cooking class ∼1000-1200 THB. You cook, you eat, you film. Most include a market tour.
Afternoon: Central Festival Chiang Mai. Huge, aircon, cheap eats ∼120 THB. Perfect for a “mall haul” or rest break.
Evening: Saturday Wua Lai Walking Street 5-10pm. Crafts, food ∼150 THB, live music. If your Day 4 isn’t Sat, do Sunday Walking Street at Tha Phae Gate.
Blog Tip: POV cooking video + walking street b-roll = your most watched content.

Day 5: Slow Morning + Last Shots

Vibe: Don’t rush the goodbye
Morning: Brunch at The Larder or Good Morning Chiang Mai ∼200-300 THB. Journal. Breathe.
Late Morning: Souvenirs at JJ Market or Central Chiang Mai Airport Plaza.
Lunch: Huen Phen for Northern Thai set ∼150 THB.
Afternoon: Wat Umong – tunnel temple in the forest. Quiet. Perfect final photo.
Blog Tip: End with a “what Chiang Mai taught me” post. Solo travel + healing stories perform best.

Budget Breakdown for Solo Travelers

  • Food/day: 300-500 THB
  • Transport: 200-400 THB/day with Grab
  • Activities: ∼2500 THB total for cooking class + 1 tour
  • 5-Day Total excl. hotel/flights: ∼8,000-10,000 THB

3 Things I Wish I Knew Before Going

  1. November is cool season + possibly Yi Peng lantern festival. Book early.
  2. Nimman cafes have the best wifi for editing. Starbucks Reserve One Nimman is my office.
  3. You don’t need to rush. Chiang Mai rewards slow. 5 days is the sweet spot.

Chiang Mai didn’t just give me content. It gave me space to choose myself again.

Let’s experience Rajasthan with MK. Darr Ke Aagay Jeet Hai: Victory Beyond Fear.

“Darr Ke Aagay Jeet Hai. That’s what this trip is about. Victory is beyond fear. I’m super excited for this trip as it’s not just a trip but it’s a lifetime experience which I have yet to immerse myself by the Pichola lake.

Due to personal reasons I’m not sharing my trip dates. Just setting healthy boundaries so I can enjoy this in peace.

Cancelled both Banjara Heritage and Perfectstayz Premium just for a way cheaper + the lake views and rooftop are my main goal to snap by my DSLR camera 😍📸😍.

2 months to go– It’s exciting I know.. Come and experience Rajasthan with MK. Witness the living truth of a lifetime. 😊

Day 4.5: Reset & Recover from the Pekat Curry Rice & 4 Chapati in Pudu.

Last night I had subway Bbq chicken salad. With Doritos crushed cheese chips. I know you must be 😯.

1000314622

Had a good one with white chip cookie and lots of water. As I woke up realizing it’s Monday. I decided to prepare myself reset drink to recover from the Pekat mutton Curry from Lavanya and I can’t get over the 4 Chapati in Pudu 😂.

1000314623

Reset Drink – How to Make

1. Boil water and pour into a cup

2. Add to cup first: apple cider vinegar + cinnamon + turmeric + black pepper

Use less turmeric and ACV if your stomach is sensitive

3. Squeeze half a lemon in after the hot water.

4. If too tangy: Add more water to dilute it tip: Add honey to help with digestion and make it more comforting.

Stir and drink warm.

Day 3.0. I Broke My Veg Day for Mutton Curry Rice at Lavanya Food Corner. 2:1

2.0 was in the morning at Jit Capati and it loaded the capacity up til I had to take chia seeds in order to reset while digest the food.

Since it’s a Cheat Code day and the only chance I took to come over KL for weekend feast.

The rice was slightly much but it will last me the day. Pekat mutton curry 😋 rice veg and tofu was just perfect for me.

After the heavy yet good mutton curry rice with green vegetables I took a slow walk and it wasn’t as far as I thought.

The Reset Code

Cheat Code: Reset activated.RM1 Masala Tea from TEA TIME.Warm, light, exactly what the gut needed.

I even got a Cornetto Royale because.. why not. It’s Day 3.0.

Endgame:

Score 2:1. Cravings won this round. But we balanced it.Enjoy. Balance. Reset. No guilt.

I Broke My Veg Day for 4 Chapati at Tiger Jit. 1:0, Day 2.0

4 Chapati with dhal on center, curry chicken on the right side. With veg to balance and water to cool down.

The Quick Review:
What: 4 homemade bantal chapati + veg curry + cauliflower fry + chicken curry + water
Where: Tiger Jit, Pudu KL
Cost: RM28 ~ SGD$8.80
Verdict: 10/10 chapati. 6/10 stomach 😂

I Was Supposed to Eat Veg Today Clean. Light. Routine. But I’m in KL till tomorrow. Tiger Jit was 10 mins away. So I listened to my craving instead.

Why Tiger Jit Hits Different

Tiger Jit doesn’t play safe.

Chapati is thick, soft, warm. Like a bantal. Twice the size of SG ones.

Chicken curry is pekat. Real Malaysian heat. Soaks up curry without falling apart.

RM28. Pricey for KL. One-time eat for me. But I get why it’s packed.

1000313915

Lavanya can wait for couple of hours.

Final Score 4 chapati, 0 regrets.

Tiger Jit chapati is better than SG chapati.

Brickfields Calling MK: Come Over & Feast- The Weekend Buzz

So this weekend I’m down for Bombay Talkies Restaurant located at Brickfields in Kualar Lumpur. Well most importantly is Lavanya Food which has more variety options.

I fell in love with vada Pav since I visited Mumbai. Light snack yet delicious 🤤. But I’m down for some vegetarian food for Saturday so Butter paneer masala be good with some chapati.

1000312485

Just look at the menu. I’m hungry already 😂, maybe I shall have the vada Pav and consider the bhendi masala as well. It’s always good to balance and take walks after meal.

Stay tuned for more updates ..
